Parliament has scheduled the vote of consent for Minister of Transport and Communication Ameen Ibrahim, Attorney General Aishath Bisam and Minister of Gender, Family and Human Rights Aishath Azima Shakoor, for the session on 26th of this month.
Parliament Secretariat has informed the MPs that the report on granting consent, compiled by the Committee on Oversight of the Government, has been scheduled for the 26th, Wednesday.
Parliament Committee on Oversight of the Government has decided to give consent to Transport Minister Ameen Ibrahim and to reject Attorney General Aishath Bisam and Gender Minister Aishath Azima Shakoor.
The Committee rejected consents for Bisam and Azima last Wednesday, with 4 votes against, of a total of 7 MPs who participated in the meeting.
The MPs who voted against granting consent for Bisam and Azima include Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) parliamentary group members Baarashu MP Mohamed Shifaz, Kulhudhufushi-North MP Abdul Raoof Moosa, Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ahmed Easa and Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir.
The MPs who voted in favour of granting consent for the Bisam and Azima include Maduvvari MP Visam Ali, Thimarafushi MP Ahmed Shareef and Funadhoo MP Ali Saleem.
Four MPs voted in favour of granting consent for Transport Minister Ameen, whom includes Maduvvari MP Visam Ali, Thimarafushi MP Ahmed Shareef, Funadhoo MP Ali Saleem and Vili-Male’ MP Mohamed Nihan Hassan.
Three MPs voted against Ameen, which includes MDP parliamentary group members Baarashu MP Mohamed Shifaz, Kulhudhufushi-North MP Abdul Raoof Moosa, Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ahmed Easa. MP Abdulla Jabir abstained his vote.
