Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has published an announcement on the government gazette asking any party who might have property on Usfangandu area and to clear the property from the land before next Thursday.
The Ministry has repeatedly notified Male’ City Council to hand over the Usfasgandu area, which has been leased by the council to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to conduct political activities.
The announcement, published on the 17th this month, states that Usfasgandu is planned to be accessible to the public and asks for the public to remove their belongings from the property, for the Ministry to facilitate such accessibility.
The Ministry issued an order on the 25th February this year upon Male’ City Council to empty and hand over Usfasgandu within a seven-day period and that the government would take no responsibility for any damage caused to items that remain in the area after the that period. Male’ City Council has thus far, failed to heed the Ministry’s orders.
