Bandhu Saleem appointed as Managing Director of MACL

Bandhu Ibrahim Saleem has been appointed as the Managing Director of Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL).

Sun Online has received information to indicate that Saleem was appointed to this post by the Privatisation and Co-Privatisation Board yesterday, and that Saleem’s predecessor, Dr Ibrahim Mahfooz, was appointed as a Board Member of MACL.

Saleem was appointed to this post after the Board of Directors of Male’ International Airport Company, a company newly established by the government for the operation of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, was dissolved after the attorney general advised that the Board of Directors of the company was appointed by President Dr Mohamed Waheed in February 2013 against the Privatisation Act.

The government has decided that MACL would operate the airport as a case regarding the termination of the contract has been filed to an arbitration court.

Bandhu Ibrahim Saleem held the post of Chairman of Island Aviation prior to being appointed as Managing Director of MACL.
