Lorry dumps garbage into Male

A group of people have dumped a lorry full of garbage into Male’ City Council grounds.

Male’ City Council Member Ahmed Abdul Kareem (Rukuma Ahmed) told Sun today that they do not know who dumbed the garbage, but said that they are working on finding the culprits. Police are also attending the scene.

The garbage was dumped into the City Hall compound around noon today when most of the staff were out for lunch.

The incident follows frustration from the public due to the council’s inability to properly manage waste in the capital, with the stink of garbage hovering the city to have become frequent.

Council Member Ahmed Abdul Kareem said that the council is putting every effort to manage the garbage to the standard expected, and to the extent of the budget allowed to them by the government.
