Burglars break into shop, steal merchandise and Rf 50,000 cash

More than Rf 50,000 cash as well as merchandise have been stolen from Florence, a shop located opposite Kulliyyaage.

Owner of the clothes shop Ali Mohamed said that the burglars entered the shop by breaking the front door lock, and stole cash in a wallet in one of the drawers. The incident took place late last night.

“We believe they stole about Rf 50,000. I had a wallet in the drawer which contained foreign currency. They’d taken 2,000 Dirham and thrown the wallet on the counter. I don’t know exactly how much money was in the drawer. But it was a lot, for sure,” Ali Mohamed Said.

He said that they also stole jewellery such as rings, as well as clothes. He added that the exact value of things stolen will be known after an audit is conducted.

Ali Mohamed said that the incident was brought to his attention this morning by the storekeeper.

Police have commenced investigations into this crime.
