A man has been found dead in Gaafu Dhaalu Foyoaree after he went fishing this morning.
Foyoaree Council President Mohamed Ahmed said that the man has been identified as Usman Idhrees, 69, Dhoogas, Gaafu Dhaalu Fiyoaree. He went to fish with a net early this morning, accompanied by another man, the Councilor said.
He said that Usman Idhrees left for fishing around 5:30 am this morning. The man who accompanied Usman said that, after while of setting up the nets, he found Usman Idhrees unconscious and entangled in the nets and that he quickly took Usman Idhrees to the island’s health centre. The health centre said that Usman Idhrees was dead when he arrived at the centre.
“Usman Idhrees was taken to the island’s health centre around 6:00. The health centre informs us that he was already dead by then.” Councilor Mohamed Ahmed said.
Usman Idrees is survived by three sons and seven daughters.
