Global Hospitals Group, India, has opened an Information and Assistance Centre in the Maldives today.
The Information Centre was launched at a ceremony held at one of the oldest medical centres in Maldives, Azmee Naeem Medical and Diagnostic Centre (AMDC), by Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Rajeev Shahare.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of State for Health Lubna Mohamed and CEO of Forte International Private Limited M.F.A. Riyaz.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lubna said that since the Maldives gained independence, the government has made several efforts to provide good standard health services to the people.
She said that the government greatly encourages private groups playing a lead role in the efforts to strengthen the health sector. She expressed hope that the health services introduced by AMDC and Global Hospitals would simplify the process of obtaining health services for Maldivians.
Indian High Commissioner Rajeev Shahare said that Maldives and India have maintained strong relations for many years, and numerous efforts have been made collaboratively by both countries to strengthen the health sector in the Maldives.
He said that the health services launched in the Maldives by Global Hospitals will facilitate the provision of the same, modern health services available in India, in the Maldives. He expressed hope that additional similar services will be introduced in the Maldives in the future.
Global Hospitals currently operates nine hospitals in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai in India. Global Hospitals is the most advanced network in providing the service of multi-organ transplantation using modern technology in India.
AMDC said that patients can now obtain treatment for various illnesses from Global Hospitals Group via AMDC, and also consult specialised doctors at global Hospitals Group through a tele-medicine service to be established at the centre.
