A group of 22 Maldivian police officers have departed to the U.S. for a training program with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The police said that the trainings will take place from 10 to 22 June, and will be attended by 21 senior non-commissioned officers and one commissioned officer of the investigation department.

The police said that as part of the training program, the officers will be given training and gain experience in investigating from 10 to 15 June, and gain experience working in the FBI divisions in Los Angeles from 15 to 22 June.

“During the training program, the participants will be given information and get the opportunity to gain experience in conducting interviews, case management and investigation, cybercrime, human trafficking, gang crimes, and other areas related to investigations. They will also visit the prisons in Washington,” said the police.

The police said that this program was initiated by the commissioner of police in collaboration with the FBI, as part of the efforts to provide training and experience to officers of the investigation department, and improve the standard of investigations conducted by the Maldives Police Service.
