Two people charged for attacking Aswaad

Charges have been pressed against two suspects involved in attacking Raajje TV Reporter Ibrahim Waheed (Aswaad).

Criminal Court Media Official Mohamed Manik said today that the two suspects are Ahmed Vishaan, 22, of M. Kerin Light and Hassan Raihaan, 19, of G. Fehimaa. They have been accused of assault in a manner that can cause serious injuries.

Manik said that Vishaan is being accused of hitting Aswaad on the head and face with a 3-foot iron rod while Aswaad was passing by Sky Tours on Boduthakurufaanu Magu on his motorcycle on the night of 23 February 2013 at around 1:18 am.

Raihaan is being accused of helping Vishaan flee the scene after attacking Aswaad, as investigations had revealed that Vishaan left on a motorcycle with Raihaan.
