My running mate will be from Addu: Nasheed

Presidential Candidate of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), former President Mohamed Nasheed has repeated that his running mate for the upcoming presidential election would be chosen from Addu.

Speaking on TVM program Raajje Miadhu, Nasheed said that he is not someone who goes back on his word, and as said before, he would choose his running mate from Addu.

“I won’t change what I say. God willing, I will try to proceed with what I said before,” he said.

Referring to some political parties appointing running mates already, he said that they are doing so to show that their campaigns for the presidential election are under way.

“I think some political parties feel the need to appoint running mates at such an early stage because they want to show that their campaigns are ongoing. Because no campaigns are going on people think nothing is going on, they’re not even on TV. So parties are appointing various people as running mates to show that campaigns are under way,” he said.
