No changes in rank for Jinah and Lady Ibrahim Manik: Police

Police have said that no changes have been made to the ranks of Chief Superintendent of Police Mohamed Jinah and Superintendent of Police Lady Ibrahim Manik, who were held under Police supervision yesterday.

They have however been assigned new positions, details of which were not revealed by the Police.

Police Media Official Sub-inspector Ahmed Shiyam said that no members of the Police have been arrested or dismissed from work following yesterday’s unrest.

Shiyam said that Jinah has left the country for medical treatment. He said that Jinah and Lady Ibrahim Manik were taken to Dhoonidhoo for security purposes.

The current chief of Police is Acting Commissioner of Police Chief Superintendent Abdulla Fairooz. Ahmed Faseeh, who held the position of Police Commissioner, resigned yesterday. The position of Deputy Commissioner remains unfilled.
