President Waheed congratulates Pakistani Prime Minister-elect Nawaz Sharif

President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has sent a message of congratulations to His Excellency Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister-elect of Pakistan.

In his message, the President extended congratulations and sincere well wishes on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives and those of his own to His Excellency Nawaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The President noted that the Prime Minister’s election presents a new opportunity for Pakistan to usher in a vibrant democracy based on values of freedom, mutual respect and concord and that he hopes that Pakistan will continue to prosper under His Excellency’s guidance.

“While expressing my confidence that the long-standing relations that exist between our two countries will be further enhanced in the coming years, may I also convey my best wishes for your good health and well-being, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan,” the President’s message read.
