Elections Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for people registered in the Male’ special register (Dhaftharu) to inform the Commission of their current addresses.
The Commission made an announcement on the 10th of last month for all parties listed in the Male’ special register to inform the Commission of their current addresses as part of the Commission’s ongoing effort to establish constituencies in Male’ for the parliamentary elections scheduled for next year.
Elections Commission said that the deadline has since been extended to the 15th of this month. The people listed in the Male’ special register are required to inform the Commission of their name, their original address before getting listed in the Male’ special registry, their Male’ special registry registration number and their current address in Male’.
The Commission said that the deadline had to be extended as a large number of people still wanted to submit information after the deadline had expired.
Elections Commission said that informing the Commission of their current address will allow the Commission to facilitate for the people to cast their votes in the nearest possible ballot box on election day.
