Civil Court orders Police to return Adam Naseer

Civil Court has ordered the police return the money and assets seized from Adam Naseer Aboobakuru of H. Reendhooge, suspected of conducting a large drug trafficking operation.

The police had returned some of his money last month.

The Civil Court order was issued last Thursday.

The property to be handed over the Adam Naseer include large amounts of US Dollars, Rufiyaa, a laptop, a number of cheque books and some credit cards.

Adam Naseer was acquitted after the Criminal Court sentenced him not guilty, a sentence that was later upheld by the High Court.

Police had discovered more than MVR 5.5 million stored in Adam Naseer’s house. The police however, had no evidence to link the money to his drug charges.
