Finance Ministry advises not to use State funds to travel abroad

The Ministry of Finance has advised all State institutions against using the State budget to travel abroad this year.

A circular issued today by Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad states that this follows a decision made by the Cabinet during its meeting held on 16 April 2013, as a measure to reduce State expenses.

Government officials have been advised not to travel abroad this year unless all expenses are covered by the foreign party (including study tours and trainings). The ministry advised to obtain the relevant permit before taking on trips covered by free financial aid, and to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum during those trips.
