The parliament has passed the Bill on State Wage Policy.
The bill, which was returned to the parliament by the President for reconsideration, was passed with 61 votes in favour. Four MPs voted against passing the bill.
Three amendments were proposed to the bill at today’s parliament sitting. The bill was passed without any changes after it was sent to the parliament floor by the committee.
The bill contains 28 articles and states that Consumer Price Index must be taken into account when determining state wages. It also states that inflation must be indexed to state wages, and the wages should allow employees to maintain and improve their standard of living.
The Pay Commission Bill states that based on social and economic standards, wages paid to state employees should facilitate the distribution of state wealth over as many people as possible.
