Leader of Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has said that the pivot of DRP’s policy is national interest.
Addressing the people who travelled to Male’ from the islands to attend the party’s Congress, Thasmeen said that DRP would never be driven by personal interest.
“DRP is a party that prioritises the nation over our own political and personal gains. The pivot of DRP’s policy is national interest. We believe that the nation is mightier than the individual,” he said.
Thasmeen, who is also the Presidential Candidate of DRP, said that DRP is a ‘strong party’ because of the work of its members, and that members will be asked to contribute their opinions during the Congress for the party’s manifesto. Thasmeen expressed confidence that constructive suggestions can be obtained during the Congress.
He also expressed confidence that the election will be free and fair.
DRP has said that about 700 members have travelled to Male’ to attend the Congress, which will go on until Thursday.
