A lawyers’ association by the name of ‘Maldives Bar Association’ has been registered, to develop lawyers’ interests and lobby for and solve problems faced by lawyers in the judiciary.

The association was registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs on 11 April. Its founders are former Attorney General Husnu Al Suood, Lawyer Ismail Wisham, Company Registrar of Economic Ministry Ali Shujau, Fayaz Ismail and Aishath Sheeza.

Suood said that the association will work towards improving the education standard of lawyers, and holding discussions to solve the problems faced by lawyers.
