Man sentenced to one year in prison for carrying knife on the street

The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to one year in prison for carrying a knife on the street.

The convict is Fahud Moahmed of Male’ Municipality Special Registry 416.

The Criminal Court verdict states that it had been proven through statements provided by witnesses that Fahud Moahmed was on Fiyaathoshi Hingun carrying a knife at around 8:52 pm on 27 March 2012.

As Fahud Moahmed could not give a reason in court for carrying the knife, Criminal Court found him guilty of carrying a sharp object in a public place without valid reason.
