Velidhoo MP Ali Mohamed (Alibe), an independent member in the parliament, has refuted the claims that he had joined Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Alibe told Sun Online in an interview that he had not signed the membership form to join MDP yet.
“I haven’t done anything like that yet. If I join that party, you will know about it. I haven’t done that yet,” he said.
Alibe often sides with MDP when voting in the parliament.
He won the Velidhoo seat by contesting under Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) ticket, but left DRP in 2011.
When asked if he might join MDP, he did not reply directly, but said that people ‘will find out’.
