Committee to probe claims that State accounts were frozen

The Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee has decided to investigate claims that State accounts were frozen by the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).

This was proposed by Hulhumeedhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb, who said that this matter requires immediate investigation and requested to summon Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad and Governor of MMA Fazeel Najeeb to the committee.

Kaashidhoo MP Abdullah Jabir said that he would support dialogue between the members of the Economic Affairs Committee and the relevant government officials regarding this issue.

Following this, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Alifushi MP Mohamed Nashiz assured that he would to the necessary to proceed with this proposition.
