Sandhaan Ahanmaidhy arrested during protests, admitted in hospital due to breathing difficulties

Council Member of Gaumee Party Sandhaan Ahanmaidhy has been admitted at IGM Hospital due to difficulties in breathing after he was arrested during last night’s protest.

Witnesses at the Chaandhanee magu crossroad say that the police used a large amount of pepper spray on him before taking him under arrest. He was seen to suffer from breathing difficulties even then.

A Police Media Official said that Ahanmaidhy was arrested for noncompliance with Police orders. Police normally use authority on such individuals as required by the circumstances, and pepper spray was used during the arrest of Ahanmaidhy.

He also said that Ahanmaidhy was taken to IGM Hospital as soon as he began to suffer from breathing difficulties after being taken under arrest.

A monitoring device is connected to Ahanmaidhy at IGMH casualty.

The Police Media Official also said that five people were arrested following the protest last night, which includes two children under 18.

He said that windows of Human Resource Ministry and Megachip shop on Majeedee magu were broken last night.
