The High Court has said that they will take action against the failure to follow their order and produce the Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed for hearings.
The military failed to comply with the fourth order issued by High Court subsequent to JSC’s appeal against Civil Court order to postpone Judge Abdulla’s case. Today’s hearing was scheduled for 3.00pm.
Making the announcement to cancel today’s hearing, High Court Judge Azmiralda Zahir said that Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel was summoned to the Court at 3.00pm today for the hearing regarding the failure of the military to produce Judge Abdulla on three occasions. Moosa Ali Jaleel was not present at the court today.
Azmiralda said that the military did not even state a reason for not producing Judge Abdulla at the Court. She indicated that steps will be taken against this practice as it is disrespectful of the court’s honor.
In today’s hearing, lawyer of JSC requested for an order to demand Civil Court to hold looking into the case submitted until a decision is made by High Court.
Today’s session ended with the announcement that a decision regarding this order will be made at the next session.
