Parliament announces Kaanal Nasheed

Parliament has officially announced today the change of Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed (Kaanal Nasheed) from the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP).

Speaker of the Parliament Abdulla Shahid told the parliament session today that all the necessary documents following the change of party for the Nolhivaram MP has been submitted to the parliament.

The Speaker announced that following the change, MDP has a total of 29 MPs and DRP a total of 15 MPs in parliament.

MP Nasheed joined DRP on the 20th of last month. He had said that the reason he left MDP was because of differences in opinions, which he said he put considerable effort to resolve.
