Singaporean company acquires Soneva Gili

HPL Hotels & Resorts, a subsidiary of Singapore-based Hotel Properties has acquired Soneva Gili, a popular destination for tourists visiting the Maldives.

Online newspaper Breaking Travel News (BTN) reported the news on Friday.

The paper reports that HPL Hotels and Resorts has assured its customers that business will go ahead as usual, and that the company was quick to emphasise that its plans for the resort are restricted to re-branding it as “Gili Lankanfushi, Maldives”, with only minor changes and enhancements.

“We intend to keep the spirit of the resort accordingly; guests booked after the change in management can be assured that the terms and conditions of their reservations will remain unchanged,” said Stephen Lau, chairman of HPL Hotels & Resorts, reports BTN.

The value of the acquisition is not yet know.
