Giraavaru reopens as four star resort

Thailand hospitality company Centara Hotels and Resorts has reopened Giraavaru island as a four star resort in the Maldives.

ASIA Travel Tips, in reference to Centara reported that “Centara Ras Fushi Resort and Spa” was opened last Thursday, the second resort by Centara in the Maldives.

The first resort by the company, “Centara Grand Island” in Alif Dhaalu Mahchafushi was opened in 2009.

The island is located on Giraavaru island, 15 minutes by speedboat from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. Centara revealed that a total of $54 million (MVR 832 million) was invested in developing Centara Ras Fushi Resort and Spa, which sports 140 suites and villas.

Giraavaru island belongs to Abdul Raoof of Ma. Snow Rose. An island in Lhaviyani atoll named Hudhufushi, also owned by Abdul Raoof, has now been handed over to Centara for development and management. Centara reveals that $35 million will be spent on their new investment in Hudhufushi.
