Man sought on suspicion of theft found injured on the street

A man sought by the police on suspicion of stealing from a shop in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo has been found injured and lying on the street.

The 23-year-old man is suspected of having stolen from DMN shop in Thinadhoo last night and is currently being treated in ICU in Thinadhoo Regional Hospital.

The hospital has not disclosed any details on his injuries.

A man from Thinadhoo said that the police had been searching for Ahmed Niusam following a theft incident last night, and that Niusam had been attacked and had suffered injuries when he was found.

He said that money and mobile phones had been stolen from DMN shop by thieves who broken in through the ceiling.

The police said that the 23-year-old man was found lying on the street in front of a house called Seyva in Thinadhoo. They said that he was sought on suspicion of stealing from DMN shop.
