The fire at the Sh. Funadhoo petrol shed has been extinguished, the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), one house in the area was completely burned down in the incident, while several others sustained serious damage.
The fire broke out early this morning at the petrol shed located near the harbor. NDMA said one house was destroyed and three nearby houses suffered varying levels of damage due to the blaze. Residents living in the affected neighborhood have been temporarily evacuated to safer homes as explosions continue to be heard from the site.
Several people are being treated at the Funadhoo Hospital after being severely affected by smoke. NDMA said the situation is being closely monitored, and efforts are underway to identify those in need of humanitarian assistance and provide support.

Funadhoo Council President Mohamed Adil told Sun that at least 18 people were affected by the smoke. Some also sustained minor injuries, he said.
The fire has prompted the temporary suspension of OPD services at the Shaviyani Atoll Hospital, which is currently only providing emergency care.
