Armenian airline Shirak Avia is scheduled to begin operating flights to the Maldives next month.
According to the airline’s published schedule, the service will commence on November 14th, with flights operating every Saturday.
The route will depart from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, with a stopover in Muscat, Oman, before continuing to Malé.
The flights are part of Shirak Avia’s expansion into new destinations for the winter season. The airline will operate the service using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
With several airlines scheduled to operate flights to the Maldives during the upcoming winter season, arrangements have been made to use the domestic terminal at Velana International Airport to accommodate some carriers. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that 10 airlines will adjust their operations during the winter period.
As the peak tourist season approaches, visitor arrivals are expected to rise significantly. Statistics from the Tourism Ministry show that 1.7 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. Although this represents a 3.2 percent decrease compared to the same period last year, the number of arrivals remains high for 2024.
