Magistrate Courts, established under the Maldives Courts Act, function as first‑instance courts at the lowest tier of the judicial system. They hear general civil and criminal matters, family cases, and minor disputes arising within their respective islands or regions.
The appointments strengthen judicial capacity in the atolls and support ongoing efforts to improve access to justice across the country.
