Policeman seriously injured after getting hit by speeding motorcycle on Hulhumale’ Highway

A police officer sustained serious injuries on early Saturday after getting hit by a speeding motorcycle on the Hulhumale’ Highway.

According to police, the accident took place at around 04:29 am Saturday, when a motorcyclist who was speeding as he headed from Male’ to Hulhumale’ lost control of the vehicle and hit a police officer who was on duty on the highway.

The cycle was stopped by the other police officers on duty, said the spokesperson.

The police officer sustained serious injuries in the accident and was taken to the ADK Hospital in Male’.

The spokesperson added that the motorcyclist involved in the accident was taken into police custody, along with the vehicle he was driving.

The accident is under further investigation by the police.
