The man who suffered serious injuries in an accident in Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo on the night of 19 March has died while being treated in a hospital in Sri Lanka.
Mohamed Aswad, 29 years of age, sustained a number of injuries following a motorcycle accident that took place in Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo.
Vaadhoo Council member Fathimath Shazmy told Sun today that Aswad's family revealed that he passed away this afternoon in a hospital in Sri Lanka.
"His two kidneys had failed, due to the accident. His brain had died three days ago, the family said referring to the doctor," Shazmy said.
The accident happened after two motorcycles collided while being driven alongside each other, causing Aswad's cycle to lose control and crash into a tree.
Thinadhoo Hospital had revealed earlier that he had sustained serious injuries including fractures to his skull and damages to his brain, fractures to his jaw and forehead. Awad was unconscious when he was transported to Sri Lanka for treatment.
