The next academic year will begin on January 17, according to the 2027 academic calendar released by the Ministry of Education.
The calendar states that teachers are required to report to schools on January 13, ahead of the reopening of schools on January 17.
The first day of Ramadan falls on February 8, which has been declared a public holiday. From February 21 to 25, schools will hold teachers’ professional development days.
The calendar further designates February 26 to March 7, the last ten days of Ramadan, as public holidays. The government also closed the last ten days of Ramadan this year.
Public holidays for Eid al-Fitr will run from March 9 to 11. Schools will then close from May 16 to 20 for Hajj and Eid al-Adha.
First-term exams will be held from June 29 to July 8, giving students several days off during the term. The second term will begin on August 1 after the first-term holidays. Second-term exams are scheduled from November 23 to December 2, with report books issued on December 5. The academic year will conclude on December 10.
The second term of the current academic year is ongoing, and students will be on holiday from December 18 this year until January 17, 2027.
