Judges have been appointed to five magistrate courts. Letters of appointment were presented to them at a ceremony held today.
The five newly-appointed judges are Mohamed Sadig as the Magistrate of Raa Ungoofaaru Court, Aminath Niyasha as the Magistrate of Alif Dhaalu Mahibadhoo Court, Ali Ahmed as the Chief Magistrate of Faafu Feeali Court, Abdul Fatthah Abdul Gafoor as the Chief Magistrate of Laamu Isdhoo Court and Ahmed Akram as the Magistrate of Gnaviyani Fuvahmulah Court.
Ali Ahmed previously held the post of Assistant Public Prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office and Abdul Fatthah Abdul Gafoor previously held the post of Legal Officer at the Judicial Service Commission.
At the ceremony held at the Judicial Service Commission this evening, the judges’ oath was read by Supreme Court Judge Abdullah Areef and the letters of appointment were presented to the new judges by Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain.
