Fahmy resumed work after being notified by President

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has said that President of CSC Mohamed Fahmy Hassan resumed work after he received a letter in this regard from the President’s Office.

Media Coordinator of CSC Ali Nizar told Sun Online today that Fahmy returned to work following the completion of all necessary procedures in this regard.

“Fahmy returned to work after all the necessary procedures were completed. The President’s Office sent a letter on 17 March 2013 regarding him resuming work. He returned to work when he received this letter,” Ali Nizar said.

The President’s Office has confirmed to Sun Online that it sent a letter to Fahmy regarding his employment. However, neither the CSC nor the President’s Office has revealed the contents of the letter.

Referring to reports that the Attorney General’s (AG) Office had sent a letter to the CSC to prevent Fahmy from returning to work, Ali Nizar said that the Attorney General’s Office had not sent any letter regarding Fahmy’s employment.

“The AG has not sent us any letter thus far. They have also not said anything regarding Fahmy resuming work following the Supreme Court ruling. We have not been notified anything by the AG Office regarding Fahmy’s employment,” he said.

Fahmy returned to work following the Supreme Court ruling whereby it declared void the parliament’s decision to dismiss him from his post. There have been media reports that the CSC had requested advice on this matter from the AG Office. The AG Office has not yet commented on this issue.

The Supreme Court said in its ruling on the case filed by Fahmy regarding the parliament’s decision to dismiss him, that the parliament’s decision was unconstitutional and therefore void. The Supreme Court further said that the parliament had violated the procedures on dealing with a person accused of a criminal offence when it dealt with the case against Fahmy.
