Woman dies after suffering respiratory distress during Fulidhoo water class

A woman died in V. Fulidhoo on Tuesday, shortly after she was rushed to the local health center after complaining of respiratory distress during a water class.

The incident took place at around 04:30 pm Tuesday, during a water class held by the Fulidhoo Police and V. Atoll Madrasa for students, teachers and parents of the school.

The police said that a 39-year-old woman was taken to the health center after she complained of respiratory difficulties as she went back to shore during a water break during the class.

The woman passed away at around 08:14 pm while under treatment, said the police, quoting health center officials.

The police said the body of the deceased was transported to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for a medical examination, and then handed over to the family on early Wednesday.

Her body was buried after the dawn prayer.

The police said they were looking into the case.
