The Government of Japan has launched a competition to design the official logo commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan, which will be celebrated next year. The initiative aims to further strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
The logo competition is open to Maldivian and Japanese citizens of all ages. Participants must submit their designs by September 30.
According to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, submissions must be sent in JPEG, PDF, or EPS format, with a maximum file size of 3 MB and a resolution of 300 dpi. Each entry must include both color and black-and-white versions of the logo, along with a brief description of around 80 words, attached as a separate file.

The ministry stated that all submissions must be original works and must not use generative AI, nor infringe on any third-party copyrights. Designs must not contain rude, illegal, political, religious, or commercial content. Any entries violating these rules will be rejected.
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will retain all copyrights and usage rights to the selected logo and may modify the design if necessary. While the winner will not receive a financial prize, their name and details will be announced publicly with their consent.
The ministry noted that submissions will not be returned and no inquiries will be answered regarding the selection process.

The winning logo will be announced on the ministry’s website in mid-December, following evaluation by the authorities.
