Hair director who resigned without notice ordered to pay more than MVR 113,000

An employee who left a job without giving notice as required under the employment agreement has been ordered by the Employment Tribunal to pay more than MVR 113,000 to the company

The Tribunal issued the order after hearing a case filed by Salon Maldives Pvt Ltd against its former hair director.

According to the case details, the hair director resigned in February 2025 without providing the mandatory three-month notice.

Salon Maldives also asked the Tribunal to recover the legal costs incurred by the company in connection with the case.

After hearing the matter, Tribunal member Ishara Abdul Aziz ordered the hair director to pay the outstanding amounts.

The payable sum includes MVR 20,000 per month in lieu of notice, MVR 60,000 for three months’ salary, MVR 23,086.14 for services taken on credit, and MVR 30,000 as attorney’s fees.

The Tribunal ordered the employee to pay a total of MVR 113,086.14 before 30 September, and to notify the Tribunal in writing within five days of completing the payment.
