Aishath Zamra Zahir, former Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of the Bank of Maldives (BML), has been appointed as the Managing Director of Addu City Hankede Development Corporation Limited.
Sun has learned that she has been appointed to the post. However, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) could not be reached for comment.
Addu City Hankede Development Corporation Limited was established by the President on 16 July.
The company’s board of directors was appointed on 27 July.
The main purpose of the corporation is to develop Hankede under the Integrated Tourism Development Model.
The corporation is mandated to ensure that tourism-related benefits are distributed equitably among the people of Addu City, increase local participation in the sector, and take all necessary measures to achieve the Government’s economic objectives for the area.
Hankede was designated as a tourism development zone by a resolution dated 2 December 2021, during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
