Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has met with the Election Committee of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) to observe the level of preparation for the party’s Primary Election scheduled for 30 March 2013.
PPM said that the meeting was held at 1:30 pm today at PPM Office and that it was attended by the five members of the Election Committee, PPM Secretary General and PPM Registrar.
Chairman of PPM Election Committee Mohamed Tholal told Sun Online today that at the meeting, Gayoom was briefed regarding the committee’s work and that he applauded the committee’s work. Tholal said that Gayoom urged the committee members to make the election as fair and transparent as possible.
Tholal said that Gayoom offered to provide advice on any issue as required by the committee. He further said that this meeting and praise by Gayoom was great encouragement for the team to continue with its work for the election which is just around the corner.
