President expresses his gratitude to the Emir of Qatar

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has expressed his gratitude to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, for the generous support extended by the government of Qatar to the Maldives over the years.

The President met with the Emir of Qatar today.

At the meeting, President Waheed applauded the Emir for his leadership in addressing critical issues faced by the Islamic world today. The President also noted that under the Emir’s leadership, Qatar has emerged as one of the most advanced countries in the region, and was an important player in global politics.

Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani noted the close relations between the two countries, and assured President Waheed of Qatar’s support and commitment to work with the government of Maldives in promoting investment in the Maldives.
