The Male' City Council has fined those responsible for Saturday’s fall from a building under construction on Majeedhee Magu.

Two workers were injured in the incident and taken to IGMH for treatment. They are a 22‑year‑old Nepalese man and a 39‑year‑old Bangladeshi man. One has since been discharged, while the other remains admitted to the ward.

The council said the incident occurred because workers at the site failed to take proper safety measures.

As a result, action has been taken against the negligent parties and a fine has been imposed, the council said.

According to the penalty notice, the individuals were fined for carrying out work without adhering to safety measures required under general social standards.

When asked by Sun, the Male' City Council confirmed that a fine of MVR 5,000 had been imposed.

Police are investigating the incident.
