The B. Goidhoo Council Fulhangi Challenge 2026 is set to be held from June 28 to July 5, bringing a week-long celebration of sport, skill, and island unity to B. Goidhoo.
A total of 43 kitesurfers will compete across two divisions — Freestyle and Downwind Slalom — in what organisers expect to be one of the most competitive editions of the event to date.
One of the seven judges, Hassan Nizam, said this year’s response has been highly encouraging, with participation exceeding expectations.
“We are very happy with the level of interest this year. With 43 competitors, the numbers have exceeded expectations, and it shows strong growth and a very promising future for the sport,” he said.
Among the competitors is Visam Mohamed, who placed third at the recent Raa Raa Pro held in Dhiffushi. He described the event as an important opportunity for development and competition.
“This is a great chance to compete with new and established players. I’m really excited to take part and push myself further,” he said.
The Fulhangi Challenge has continued to evolve beyond a sporting competition, growing into a broader festival that highlights community spirit, athletic talent, and the culture of Baa Goidhoo.
