Indian High Commission donates laptops to six PNC constituencies in support of Maldives’ digital transformation vision

The Indian High Commission has donated laptops to six MPs representing the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) in Parliament.

The laptops were officially handed over at a ceremony held at the Parliament offices on Tuesday, attended by senior officials from the People’s Majlis and the Indian High Commission.

The laptops were provided to the following constituencies:

  • Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Speaker of the People’s Majlis  

  • Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarik  

  • Kendhikulhudhoo MP Mohamed Afoo Hamid  

  • Kurendhoo MP Mohamed Shamin Habeeb  

  • Huraa MP Dr. Anara Naeem  

  • Nilandhoo MP Fathimath Saudha  

The laptops were handed over by Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, and received on behalf of the Parliament by Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla.

According to the Indian High Commission, the donation forms part of India’s long‑standing capacity‑building cooperation with the Maldives, and aligns with the government’s “Maldives 2.0 Digital Transformation” vision. The initiative aims to empower local constituencies through technology and strengthen sectoral development.

The High Commission described the gesture as another step in fostering a “shared future” between the two countries under India’s Neighbourhood First policy.
