Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), on Wednesday, has appealed to the public to utilize public transportation services when traveling to the airport in the coming days, in anticipation of heavy traffic as Maldivian Hajj pilgrims begin their return home.

According to MACL, the return of Hajj pilgrims is scheduled to commence this coming Friday.

The company anticipates high traffic at Velana International Airport during this period, due to the large number of arriving pilgrims and the families gathering to welcome them.

MACL further noted that the surge in traffic may lead to difficulties in securing parking spaces. As such, the company has urged travelers and visitors to remain mindful of this situation and strongly advised to use public ferry or bus services to alleviate congestion.
