President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged the public to celebrate Eid‑ul‑Adha in a manner that upholds Islamic principles and preserves the nation’s long‑held customs, especially as communities gather for sports, festivities and traditional Eid activities.

In his Eid‑ul‑Adha message, the President said the festival carries profound lessons and wisdom, describing it as a timeless symbol of compassion that unites the entire Muslim Ummah. He said the bond created through Eid is a powerful force that strengthens national peace and security.

The President noted that the joy of Eid is among the brightest expressions of human compassion. Acts such as performing Udhhiya, exchanging gifts, and supporting the poor, he said, reinforce the social fabric and renew the collective courage needed to move forward as a strong and resilient people.

He added that Eid teaches the younger generation, the hope of tomorrow, to see the happiness of the poor and the lonely as part of their own joy.

“The sacred bond of unity fostered by this festival is a powerful force for maintaining peace and harmony throughout the country. The true jewel of Eid is to adorn oneself with the pure garment of piety and renew one’s determination to uphold the path of religion and truth,” the President said.

Reiterating his call for mindful celebration, the President urged the public to avoid practices that are alien to Islamic values or to the nation’s beautiful traditions, especially during Eid sports and communal festivities.

He concluded his message by wishing the nation a peaceful and blessed Eid, praying that the joy and blessings of these sacred days continue to return to the Maldives with happiness and prosperity.
