Japan has officially handed over a set of firefighting pumps and related equipment to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The items were presented at a special handover ceremony, after which the National Disaster Management Authority transferred the equipment to the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service.
Japan has been a long‑standing partner in strengthening Maldives’ disaster‑response and maritime‑safety capabilities. Earlier, Japan donated MVR 79 million (800 million yen) worth of equipment to the MNDF Coast Guard for use in maritime search‑and‑rescue operations.
The MNDF noted that Japan continues to extend assistance to Maldives across multiple sectors.
