Historic first as Hulhumale' hosts One Run 2026, part of the world’s largest synchronized race

From a former One Run event.

The world’s largest synchronized half marathon, One Run Global, held simultaneously across more than 35 countries, will take place in the Maldives for the first time.

The international race, organised jointly by We Run Maldives and One Run Global, is scheduled for Saturday, 23 May 2026, in Hulhumale'. The event has been held since 2017 and has twice earned Guinness World Records for the highest number of people running a half marathon at the same time.

More than 250,000 runners worldwide are expected to participate in the 2026 edition.

The Maldives race will be held along the scenic streets of Hulhumale', with multiple categories designed for runners of all levels, including a 21.1 km half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and a 1 km fun run for children.

Organisers say the event is more than a competition; it marks a milestone moment for the country’s running community, placing Maldivian runners on the global stage alongside athletes from dozens of nations.

Registration is now open at werunmaldives.com.

We Run Maldives, a community dedicated to promoting healthy living and running culture in the country, said the partnership with One Run Global is one of its biggest steps toward showcasing the Maldives’ growing running scene internationally.
