Applications are set to open on May 20 for national literature competitions, including essay, poetry, and short story writing contests.
The announcement was made by Heritage Minister Heena Waleed during a press briefing on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Heena noted that the Dhivehi Bahuge Academy conducts important activities each year to promote literature.
She said that applications for national literature competitions will open in May.
“Dhivehi Bahuge Academy organizes and holds important activities each year. Activities are planned for this year as well. One of that is the opening [of applications] on May 20 for the national essay writing competition, the national poetry competition, and the national short story writing competition,” she said.
The competitions are open to all.
Heena said that the competitions serve the important purpose of promoting and developing Dhivehi language and literature.
