Fire breaks out at the electricity board in M. Muli Friday Mosque amidst Friday sermon on April 24, 2026.
A fire broke out today in the electrical distribution board of the M. Muli Friday Mosque while Friday prayer was underway.
Photos and videos circulating on social media show the moment the fire ignited in the mosque’s electrical box during the delivery of the Friday sermon.
When contacted for comment, Muli Council said that the exact cause of the fire was not immediately known. Officials noted that by the time they reached the scene following the report, the fire had already been extinguished. They further confirmed that the incident did not result in significant damage to the distribution board.
Ahmed Kamal, Manager of the Fenaka Corporation Muli branch, stated that although the precise cause has yet to be determined, the fire is suspected to have been caused by faulty wiring.
He further noted that the mosque is equipped with approximately 13 to 14 air conditioning units, indicating that the electrical system may have been overloaded, potentially contributing to the incident. Following the fire, Fenaka technicians attended the site and are currently carrying out repair works on the wiring.
Notably, the funeral prayer for the 17-year-old girl from Muli who passed away due to dengue was held after the Friday prayer.
